Where the Truth Lies is the twelfth episode of the tenth season of Blue Bloods.

Synopsis[]

Frank takes heat when a widow, Rosemary Martin, blames him for her husband's suicide while on the job. Rosemary criticizes the NYPD for not having each others' backs, and an investigation reveals that her husband had an affair and was blackmailed for it. Frank decides to keep this information from Rosemary, earning more ire due to not providing the results of the investigation. Frank discreetly arranges for Rosemary to speak to the officers in her husband's precinct. When Eddie has a gut feeling about a murder, she and Erin band together to solve the case, however not before Erin earns Eddie's ire by telling her what she usually tells Danny about a case (she needs concrete evidence opposed to a gut feeling). A desperate Luis Delgado tells Danny and Baez the only way he'll testify against the Sangriento cartel is if they protect his sons. After a Sangriento cartel member abducts one of the boys, the agent working with Danny and Baez urges the detectives to lie in order for Delgado to testify in court. However, Danny and Baez resolve to rescue the boy in time, doing so by goading a Sangriento cartel member to reveal where they're keeping Delgado's son, through bringing his pregnant wife in on charges of her own.

Eddie informs Erin and Anthony about a murder of a woman. According to the statement provided by the husband of the woman, the husband and daughter observed the perpetrator jump out of a window in their residence, after murdering his wife. No murder weapon is found. The detective in charge of the investigation ejects Eddie from the room where the investigation occurs. Erin requests statements from the neighbors and doorman of the building.

The detective in charge of the investigation is condescending to Eddie, questioning her if she may handle taking the family to the precinct.

A perpetrator who agreed to testify won't speak to anyone besides Danny. The perpetrator is Delgado.

Delgado informs Danny the Sangriento cartel is threatening to kill his sons. He requests Danny to take care of the situation. Danny declines to tell the DEA agent what Delgado said to him.

A police officer named Tommy Martin is late for roll call. He enters his patrol vehicle and shoots himself.

Frank and Sid travel to the hospital to pay their respects. Sid questions Frank how he consoles the victims of officers killed in the line of duty.

The police officer's wife arrives to the hospital. Frank says he's sorry for her loss. Mrs. Martin says, "don't you dare" to Frank. She blames Frank for her husband's death.

Danny visits a middle school and discovers Carlos Delgado never made it there.

Eddie talks to Erin. She states to Erin her observations. She states the family didn't say much. Eddie notes their lack of eye contact, demeanor, etc. Erin states Eddie doesn't have enough evidence for her to start an investigation. Eddie is offended.

Frank holds a meeting chaplains of the NYPD Chaplains Unit. He believes they should potentially classify suicides as line of duty fatalities. The chaplains do not agree with Frank's recommendation. They state it is not the NYPD's fault when officers have mental health issues. One of the chaplains state anti-cop sentiment is the problem. Frank states he's unable to do anything about this, especially when officers do not request help. Frank dismisses all of the chaplains from the meeting.

The Catholic chaplain stays behind. He approaches Frank and states Rosemary affected him. He told Frank she didn't mean what she said. He believes Frank couldn't have done anything to prevent the suicide. Frank states he wants to prevent all suicides, believing he may have done something.

Eddie tries to question the victim's daughter, however the father shows up and tells Eddie to leave his daughter alone.

The DEA agent confronts Danny. They start arguing and the DA says Danny didn't realize Linda was in danger either. At the same times, information comes in about the stolen car being found in which Carlos was kidnapped.

The car has blood in it. Danny gets a call from Carlos, who has been kidnapped and is scared. Carlos tells Danny if Delgado testifies, Carlos will be killed by the Sangriento cartel. The kidnapper tells Danny to relay Delgado the message and ends the phone call.

The husband of the victim visits Erin at her office to complain about Eddie speaking to his daughter.

Garrett states Rosemary blames Frank for the recent suicide wave in the NYPD. Garrett additionally states Rosemary said Frank doesn't do enough to support his police officers. Sid believes no one will believe her statements. Garrett informs Frank Rosemary hired a lawyer and wants to obtain the results of the investigation into her husband's death. Abigail states giving those results would put an end to her blaming Frank. Frank responds by stating this is not the overall point of this situation.

Sid states Officer Martin hooked up with a prostitute. The prostitute stole all of Officer Martin's personal belongings and took explicit photos of him. Frank does not want to see the photos. Abigail states Officer Martin was blackmailed and this was the main factor behind his suicide. Frank states he needs to see Rosemary and she deserves a face-to-face conversation. Sid and Garrett disapprove of this idea.

Erin and Jamie confront Eddie about talking to Amanda. Eddie insists Amanda needs help. Erin states she's unable to form a case based on gut instincts, and she would be saying this to any of the Reagans. Eddie insists she is not a Reagan. She states she has good instincts because of her father being a criminal, and she sees something in the girl Erin can't see.

The DEA agent requests Danny to conceal information about Carlos's kidnapping from Delgado. However, Danny tells Delgado the truth about Carlos. Delgado proceeds to attack the DEA agent, refusing to testify until Carlos is found.

Anthony understands how Eddie feels. He states she is a low man on the totem pole and he wouldn't want to be her at Sunday dinner. She's the only outsider at the dinner table. The Reagans are all great and it's hard to compete. Erin asks Anthony if that's what he came here to say. Anthony says no. He states Mrs. Webster was having an affair with her husband's best friend, giving Mr. Webster motive to murder her.

Frank meets with Rosemary and the Catholic chaplain. Rosemary states she knows who to blame. Walter states people don't commit suicide over one reason. Frank states he is doing everything he can to prevent suicides. Rosemary states her ten year old son asked why his father ate his gun, and she doesn't know what to tell him. He doesn't deserve this. She demands the results of the investigation into her husband's suicide. Frank says he will not give the results to her. She questions his motives behind not giving her the results.

Frank states her husband was an exceptional police officer with a stellar record. Rosemary reminds Frank she wants access to the results of the investigation. Frank states she is looking for a reason to explain this tragedy, and she will never find a reason which satisfies her.

At Sunday dinner, Henry states Officer Martin should have thought of his son before pulling the trigger. Frank states it's more complicated than how Henry described it. Sean wonders why multiple police officers commit suicide. Henry, Jamie, and Frank have explanations. Danny shows up late to dinner and only wants dessert. Frank is worried about him working multiple hours.

Eddie starts up an argument with Erin. Jamie is annoyed at Danny for stating his opinion. Danny states he has made a career out of following his gut and Eddie shouldn't back off.

Baez receives information about a hitman. The DEA agent is angry Danny and Baez they didn't tell him about the information. Danny puts him in his place.

Jamie calls Eddie into his office. Erin and Anthony are in the office. Eddie is not interested in apologizing. She rants in front of Anthony, Erin and Jamie. Finally, Anthony stops her ranting. Eddie discovers Erin and Anthony want her to work with them on the case.

Danny demands to know where Carlos is. Garcia states he doesn't know. Garcia's wife is brought into the interrogation room in handcuffs. She supposedly had a firearm on her, and she'd be sentenced unless Carlos cooperated with Danny. He goaded Garcia into giving the information on Carlos's whereabouts, by stating his wife was pregnant and his child would be born in prison. Garcia stated to Danny all he knew is Carlos was being held in a cabin upstate.

A state police team raids the cabin with Baez and Danny. Danny finds a note saying he came too late, Carlos was dead. Danny is upset, however the police dogs detected a scent. The police dogs direct Baez, Danny and the state police team to a shed. At the shed, they find Carlos bound and gagged. He was beaten up, although he was in stable condition.

Amanda is interviewed by Anthony, Eddie and Erin at her high school. Amanda states she has nothing to say to them. Eddie tells her she can tell she's afraid of her father and she did similar things to protect her father. Eddie reveals how she used to cover for her father to pretend everything was okay, until he finally was arrested and went to prison. Amanda asks Eddie if that's why she became a police officer. Eddie states Amanda will be haunted forever if she lies about her mother's murder. Amanda admits her father killed her mother by accident.

Danny visits Delgado before Delgado is due to testify against the Sangriento cartel. Delgado jokes he should change his name to Danny Reagan. Delgado informs Danny he was able to spend time with his sons. Delgado states he doesn't know how to thank Danny for protecting his sons. Danny states to Delgado to testify against the Sangriento cartel in the courtroom, to put away the people who caused harm to their families.

Erin tells Eddie Mr. Webster will cooperate to stop Amanda from having to testify. She is impressed with how Eddie handled Amanda. Eddie confirms all of what she said was true. Erin tells Eddie she came on like a Reagan. Eddie states the Reagans are all so outspoken and it's great, however she was brought up the complete opposite and she holds back. Although she couldn't hold back during this instance. Since Amanda reminded her of herself.

Erin reassures Eddie she has not alienated her. Erin believes they should stick together against the men in the Reagan family.

At a funeral service, Rosemary speaks about her husband. Her son is by her side. She admits she blamed anyone she could think of for her husband's death. She doesn't know why he killed himself. She wishes he'd known they would help him.

Frank tells Walter he wasn't sure this was a good idea. Walter says it was, however he's not sure Rosemary would have come if she knew Frank was behind it. Walter realizes Frank never told Rosemary what he knows. Frank admits he did not. Walter believes Frank should heed his own advice and avail himself of an NYPD program as well. Frank states he has his own program: his family's dinner table.
