Monsignor Walter Donohue is a senior member of the Catholic Church in New York and a longtime friend of NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan.

In Season 1, Monsignor Donohue was with Frank when he was shot in a drive-by committed in retaliation for the arrest of the head of the Westies organized crime family Whitey Brennan in the 1970s.

In Season 10, it is revealed that Monsignor Donohue is the Assistant Chief Chaplain of the New York City Police Department.
