Reckless is the thirteenth episode of the tenth season of Blue Bloods.

Synopsis[]

Frank and Sid must uncover the truth when an undercover officer accuses a fellow officer of police brutality. After a private meeting with the accuser, Frank implores Sid to decide on punishment for the accused officer. Sid decides to suspend the officer indefinitely rather than fire him from the NYPD. Danny and Baez investigate the murder of a famous photographer recently accused of assault by his former models. The photographer was married, leading Danny to suspect the models or the photographer's wife. However, all the potential suspects are cooperative in the investigation. The father of the nanny (who happened to be pregnant with the photographer's baby and lied to her father about having been raped), is found to be responsible for the act. Erin struggles to protect a witness as new justice reform laws go into effect. Jamie investigates when several officers are accused of handing accident reports (and by extension, victims' private information) to a doctor instead of keeping the matter confidential.

Recap[]

Detailed recap of the episode which contains MAJOR SPOILERS.
NYPD Police Officers are stationed outside of a courthouse where bikers are protesting. The bikers are protesting in front of the courthouse, because their leader is on trial. The bikers are arrested by the NYPD after one of them assaults an NYPD Detective.

Erin interviews a store manager who was robbed at gunpoint. She is worried the person responsible for the crime will find her. A new law states Erin must provide the defense attorney the witness's address. The witness doesn't believe this is fair, nor does Erin. Erin stalls the defense attorney for as long as she may. Before providing the defense attorney the witnesses's address, Erin informs her to not give the address to her client.

Garrett informs Frank there is a police brutality complaint -- by an undercover officer.

Danny and Baez travel to a murder scene. The victim is a photographer accused of sexually assaulting his models.

Danny and Baez interview the victim's wife. She states she sent him to a hotel until his sexual assault allegations were resolved. She had no idea why he came back to the residence.

Danny and Baez interview an employee who states Felix was a great father to his children. She states she stayed over at his residence occasionally. She informs Danny and Baez she stayed at the residence the night before, hearing nothing. She is positive Mrs. Roth was not involved and Mr. Roth was not sneaking around. She states the victims are all lying.

Eddie informs Jamie the woman ran her car into a stop sign. She states every officer had access to the report. Eddie is annoyed Jamie is questioning her.

Sid states the undercover officer started the fight. He mentions there was no body camera footage or cellphone footage of the incident. Frank tells Sid to find footage of the incident.

Erin states they owe it to the other witnesses to keep them safe.

Roth's wife was a model who had sex with him after the first shoot. Danny believes this fact proves he was sexually assaulting the models and perhaps his wife killed him.

Allison admits to Baez and Danny she leaked his actions involving sexual assault to a reporter. She wanted Felix to be caught for his actions, because she would not have custody of her children if she filed for divorce.

Sid interviews Detective Connor. Detective Connor denies using a chokehold against Detective Porter and states Detective Porter is seeking money from the NYPD. He expresses his disdain for the bikers, although he insists he was following the NYPD Patrol Guide when he arrested the bikers. He's angry at Sid for not being on his side.

Officer Long states he knows Dr. Mehta. Jamie asks Officer Long if he's been providing Dr. Mehta accident reports. Officer Long states there is nothing for Jamie to view and walks away from Jamie.

Erin tells Anthony to provide Katie protection. Anthony states they don't have the manpower to protect every witness.

Baez and Danny interview the nanny for a second time. Her father opens the door and informs Baez and Danny she isn't at the residence. He allows Baez and Danny to enter the residence. He told Baez and Danny he didn't approve of her job and told her to quit, however she didn't listen. He informs Baez and Danny he and Melissa had a fight, because she was pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Melissa's phone records showed Melissa calling Felix frequently. Baez and Danny believe Allison may have killed Felix because of the pregnancy. Baez and Danny discover Allison sent Melissa a $10,000 dollar Venmo payment.

Frank tells Sid to quit being upset about being disliked by officers. Sid believes Detective Connor is telling the truth. Garrett comes in and informs Frank two more citizens arrested at the protest made similar complaints. Sid complains about the bikers. Frank tells Sid the first complaint came from an officer.

Eddie believes Jamie should drop his investigation. Jamie wants to report the incident with the traffic reports to the Internal Affairs Bureau. Eddie states to Jamie the situation is larger than he thinks. Multiple officers and precincts are involved in the selling of accident reports. Eddie wants Jamie to discover the motives behind the officers and precincts who sell the accident reports. She is worried about looking like an informant if Jamie reports the incident to the Internal Affairs Bureau.

At Sunday dinner, Danny asks if anyone ever thinks they are in an opposite world. Frank responds and states to Danny his case with the undercover detective and uniformed detective is proof of it.

After dinner, Erin confronts Frank about the witnesses requiring protection. He responds, stating he won't discuss the topic again. Erin states she needs Frank's assistance to protect the witnesses. He tells her to make an appointment. He states he will help keep people safe, however her office has to work out its own flaws.

Jamie speaks to Officer Long a second time. Officer Long asks Jamie to come meet him at Dr. Mehta's office at the end of the tour. Jamie states he'll meet Officer Long at Dr. Mehta's office. Although, he makes Officer Long agree to one condition before agreeing to meet with him at Dr. Mehta's office. Jamie states Officer Long must inform other officers Eddie had nothing to do with his investigation.

Sid, Garrett and the undercover detective visit Frank and Henry. Detective Porter believes Frank should have taken his word that he was attacked. Frank states he has to protect Porter's cover, although he understands the perspectives of both the detectives. Detective Porter states he was choked and kicked in the head. Detective Porter states he tried to tell Detective Connor he was undercover, however he was choked by Detective Connor. He provides Frank a cellphone video to prove his claim.

Baez and Danny find Melissa. Melissa states Allison made an appointment for her to consider her options. Danny believes Allison is playing Melissa. Melissa states Allison didn't kill Felix. She admits her father killed Felix after she lied to her father and said she was raped by Felix.

Danny visits a bar where Melissa's father frequents. The bartender states he doesn't know Hector. He subsequently admits he does, however Hector's not here. Nobody in the bar wants to help Baez or Danny. The bartender presses a button on the bottom of the bar stand. Danny quickly runs into an alley and view Hector escaping in a vehicle. Hector attempts to run away, however he's caught. Hector cries he didn't mean to hurt Felix.

Erin tells the defense attorney the suspect's brother is responsible for assaulting Katie. The defense attorney denies culpability. Erin ejects her from her office as Anthony comes in. Erin states the defense attorney didn't do anything illegal. Erin feels she's pushing against the same thing all the time. Anthony believes any progress is good.

Sid defends Detective Connor despite the video evidence of Detective Connor applying a prohibited chokehold. Frank orders Sid to decide Connor's punishment. Sid doesn't want to be the one to decide Connor's punishment, however Frank pushes him. Sid recommends putting Detective Connor on modified assignment to the Fleet Services Division. Everyone in the room stares at him. Sid admits Detective Connor is a bad apple and needs to be suspended and charged.
