Blue Bloods Wiki

"Pilot" is the first episode of the first season of Blue Bloods.

Synopsis

The Reagan family is introduced on the day that Jamie graduates the Police Academy, having left a potential career as a lawyer to follow the family tradition.

Meanwhile, Danny and Demarcus King are given the case of a missing girl who has less than 24 hours left to live.

Due to the girl's Latino heritage, the press questions Frank on the police response and the Latino community's level trust in them.

When Danny's interrogation of a suspect goes overboard in order to save the girl, he faces the backlash most strongly from his sister, ADA Erin Reagan-Boyle. He's left with 48 hours to make a case with new evidence or the kidnapper walks.

Recap

The Reagan family is getting ready to leave their respective homes to head into New York City. Police Officer graduates are walking into Madison Square Garden for their graduation. Commissioner Reagan speaks at the police officer graduation while a little girl is walking home from school. A white van door opens, and a man kidnaps the little girl before driving away recklessly. The police officer graduates throw their white gloves in the air before shaking each other’s hands as the ceremony comes to an end.

Frank walks out of Madison Square Garden with his dad, Henry Reagan, to find the rest of his family. Frank tells his son, Jamie Reagan, a graduated police officer that he’s proud of him. Danny Reagan, his brother, tells him that his mom, Mary Reagan, would be spinning in her grave because he became a police officer instead of a lawyer. His sister, Erin Reagan, tells them that not all are police officers as she’s an assistant district attorney. Sydney Davenport Jamie’s fiancée leaves to go back to work at her law firm as Erin asks how she’s taking Jamie being a cop instead of a lawyer. Jamie tells them they are adjusting as Linda Reagan, Danny's wife, said it can’t be easy as Sydney watched them bury their brother, Joe Reagan; Danny leaves as his phone rings as he catches a case of a missing girl.

Danny and his partner, Demarcus King, arrive at the scene. The cop explains what happened to the missing girl Teresa Campos. Danny and his partners question the parents of the missing girl. A cop tells Danny that a woman saw a white van leaving. The parents tell Danny that they need to find her. Frank talks at a press conference about the missing girl. Danny and his partner, Demarcus, find that there are six registered sex offenders in the area where Teresa lived. He tells his partner that it’s going to be a long night. Frank is in office as the mayor comes in and tells him he’s doing a good job with the media. Mayor asks if it’s wise to have his own son, Danny Reagan, lead on the case of the missing girl.

Danny answers his phone to find his father, Frank, calling him. Frank tells him with all going on, he might not be able to drop off the roast for Sunday dinner. Danny asked him if he was calling for an update on the case. He tells his partner that they need to check the doll one more time. Danny is on the phone with the maker of the doll and asks for the names and addresses of anyone who had access to the doll.

Frank leaves his house with his detail while Danny arrives at one of the testers for the doll with his partner. Danny and his partner, Demarcus, question Oliver Peele about the missing girl and asking he’s wearing about last night. Demarcus tells Danny that Oliver still has his doll, and it can’t be him. Both of them leave, and Danny gets a phone call that the third person is Donald Banse. Jamie and his training officer, Antony Renzulli, leave diner talking about Jamie's brother Joe and Danny. Danny and his partner, Demarcus, arrive at Donald Banse's wife's house, and she tells them that he's not there. They go to the Lincoln Arms and see his white van painted blue. Both go inside and question Donald Banse about the missing girl Teresa. Danny shoves Donald's head into the toilet to find where Teresa is being held. Danny and his partner, Demarcus, race to save and find her in time to get her to a hospital.

Erin is in the judge's chambers with Donald Banse, talking about the kidnapping case. The judge rules in Donald's lawyer's favor and drops the charges against him because of Danny's use of excessive force. Erin walks out, and Danny asks her what happened. She tells him it was a mess and that his people better find something or Donald will walk. Danny arrives at his dad, Frank, house and brings the roast. Frank tells him it will be easier if Danny can nail this guy. He tells him to look for any cold cases with the same M.O.

Jamie is eating dinner with Sydney and his friend from Harvard. His friends ask him about his day being a cop, and he tells them a kid is paralyzed. Sydney walks out and tells Jamie that she thought of his brother Joe and that he will be out there every day. Jamie tells her he always wanted to be a cop, and as they go back inside, Jamie sees his dad, Frank, opening a door for a woman he doesn't know and kissing her goodnight. Danny, at his precinct, finds a cold case in Tampa, Florida, similar to Teresa's case.

Erin is setting the table for dinner with her daughter Nicky and Linda comes in and asks where everybody is before calling them in for dinner. Henry defends what Danny did to get a confession, and Jamie says grace. Erin and Danny start fighting, and Frank breaks it up and tells them to be civil. Frank asks his son, Jamie, what he thinks and Jamie says it's a lot of power. Danny's phones ring, and he has to go as the evidence from Tampa comes in. Erin comes down the stair after Nicky runs up them to see Jamie and Frank washing the dishes. Jamie asks if anyone is in his dad's life, but his dad tells him a day doesn't go by without him thinking of his wife. Danny and his partner go through boxes sent from Tampa. Jamie is walking when FBI agents come up and ask him about the Blue Templar. The agents show Jamie a recording of his brother, Joe, who was working for them. The agents ask if Jamie wants to work with them and finish what his brother Joe started.

Danny and his partner are on a time crunch trying to find anything to put Donald Banse in jail. Teresa visits him at his precinct to thank him with a cake before going on a tour of the place. Danny goes to Donald's wife's house and asks about her cross necklace. He tells her that the name 'Kathy' is on the back, and she hands it over. Erin in her office calls Tampa to tell them they have the necklace Kathy MacDonald wore when she went missing in 2005. She tells Danny he will need a lawyer one day for using excessive force before he leaves, happy to get the guy. Jamie meets his dad, Frank, fishing, talking about how Frank was keeping a secret. He revealed that he is dating someone and doesn't want to keep secrets from him. Frank asks if something is wrong and if he doesn't want to be a cop anymore, and Jamie tells him no but finds out that his dad, Frank, is keeping tabs on him.
