Family Secrets is the nineteenth episode of the tenth season of Blue Bloods. It is the de facto final episode of season ten after the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Synopsis[]
After getting a match from an unknown relative from a DNA network, Sean Reagan does some detective work to figure out who this mystery person is; Frank gets a personal request from a woman to transfer her son to a safer assignment.

| At the DA’s Office, Erin is asking Anthony about why he ran a name though the NYPD database. He refuses to provide details, other than that it has nothing to do with Erin or the DA’s Office. She then reminds him that the NYPD database is not for personal use, he reminds her that the Reagans often do the same thing. He ends the discussion by slamming the door on Erin.
A man frantically runs out of the back of a bodega, while calling Anthony. When Anthony picks up the call, the man (who Anthony refers to as Geo on the phone) is shot twice by an unidentified man, killing him. Jamie picks up Eddie at the precinct. Eddie suddenly notices a crying sound, who she initially thinks is a cat. They follow the sound, and find a duffel bag with a crying baby inside of it. Danny and Baez are at the bodega, as an Officer describes the deceased, cause of death, eyewitness information. The deceased has no ID on him, except the phone left on scene. Danny picks it up and sees the deceased’s last call was to Anthony. Sean shows up to 1PP unannounced. He tells Frank that he took a DNA test on his school assignment, looking into the Reagans’ family ancestry. Its results reveal that Sean has an unidentified, male fraternal first cousin. Erin and Anthony arrive at the crime scene. They inform Danny and Baez that the deceased, Geo Valdez, is a star witness in the murder trial of Juan Acosta (the head of the Apostles gang). When asked why the DA did not offer witness protection to Geo, Anthony says that the protection is supposed to start the following day, when Geo's name was to be handed to the defense. Erin laments that without Geo, she does not have a case. But Danny believes she still does, if he can prove that Acosta ordered the hit. Baker informs Frank that Paula Hill (a family friend of Frank) wants to see him for unspecified reasons. Paula informs Frank that her son Joe has joined the NYPD, and is currently serving in the Firearms Unit. Paula elaborates into the purpose of this meeting: she wants Joe transferred to safer assignments, such as the 16th Precinct in Brooklyn or the 116th Precinct in Queens. Paula also reveals that Joe's father is Frank's late son, Joe Reagan. She tells Frank that she was pregnant when she dropped out of the academy (hence Frank was unsuccessful in convincing her otherwise), and was uninterested in being in a relationship with Joe Reagan, whom she did not inform about their child. Furthermore, Paula is now coming out with this information and request, because her son has always been wondering about his father. This reminds Frank of the results of Sean’s DNA testing. |
