Derek Elwood was a Captain with the Internal Affairs Bureau of the NYPD. He is arrested in 2013 when he is found to be framing Detective Daniel Reagan.
Biography
Derek Elwood first meets Daniel Reagan and Jacqueline Curatola after an officer involved shooting of Officer Tedesco[1]. Captain Elwood later clears Danny of any charges related to the shooting claiming the evidence supports his statement[2].
In the summer of 2012 Derek opened up to Kate Lansing about marital problems he was having and her perspective on his situation[3].
Derek Elwood spent a lot of money on gambling causing financial problems leading to marital problems. When his problems are about to be exposed he decides to frame Daniel Reagan[4].
To frame Danny he drives an unmarked police car to Daniel Reagan's home[5] and take his off duty Snubnose .38 as well as planting aproximately 2 kilos of cocaine inside Daniel Reagan's car[6].
In an attempt to retrieve the black book, he kills Alan Grier, his bookie, with Daniel Reagan's Snubnose .38 but is unable to locate the black book.
Kate calles Derek into the 54th Precinct where Daniel Reagan confronts him in an interview room. Derek is then arrested by Sergeant Gormley with help from ADA Saul Ward, Kate Lansing and Daniel Reagan.
