Careful What You Wish For is the eleventh episode of the tenth season of Blue Bloods.
Synopsis[]
After an EMT is shot and killed in what turns out to be a fake call (with Jamie escaping serious injury), Danny and Baez learn it's one of many recent calls which resulted in drugs being stolen from ambulances. They soon discover it may be an inside job. Frank defends New York City's homeless community after the newly sworn-in Mayor Chase insists the NYPD strictly enforces its vagrancy laws, especially in areas frequented by tourists. Meanwhile, Erin tries to put away a person with a violent past after a judge shockingly allows him to walk on a drug charge; it is soon revealed the judge is a childhood friend of the defendant, whose cohort ambushes her at her house only to get shot. Eddie offers to help Jamie pay off his student loans from a trust fund left by her father, however Jamie is concerned the money may be dirty. Eddie and Jamie argue due to Eddie believing Jamie called her father Armin a crook.

Jamie is first on a scene in response to a call at the Bitterman Housing Complex. Jamie and the EMTs joke about a recent football game. They approach a person
on the ground. All of a sudden, someone starts shooting at Jamie and the EMTs. The "victim" runs away and one of the EMTs are shot. Erin appears before Judge Harvey, who sentences a drug offender with violent priors to rehabilitation. Erin argues with Judge Harvey after Judge Harvey adjourns the court session. Judge Harvey reminds Erin she's the judge, and defends her judgement by stating addiction is a mental illness. Danny and Baez visit Jamie. They have been investigating a similar case to the one Jamie experienced. Jamie wants to assist with the case. Danny won't let him. Frank meets with the Mayor. The Mayor is upset about tourist revenue plummeting during the holiday season. Frank states crimes in NYC have decreased. The Mayor states petty crime in NYC has increased. Chase states he's changing the vagrancy laws. Frank states the Mayor can't change the laws. Chase argues existing laws state vagrants may be removed. He continues by stating, he will change the threshold for removal of vagrants to forty nine degrees. He tells Frank to order the NYPD to remove numerous homeless people -- starting tomorrow. Frank says he will take the Mayor's recommendation under consideration. Chase isn't happy with Frank refusing to follow his order. Danny visits the surviving EMT from the previous situation at the Bitterman Housing Complex. However, her boss won't let Danny interview her. Eventually Danny convinces her boss to allow him to interview her. She doesn't remember much. She states her boss is overprotective. Danny suggests her boss may be potentially involved with the crime. Sid believes police officers will respond to Mayor Chase's order with enthusiasm. Abigail, Frank and Garrett believes Mayor Chase's order is too rushed. Garett states the removal of vagrants will be viewed as payback. Frank states Chase was elected as Mayor of NYC in a landslide, therefore this is what the people of NYC want. Erin is upset about the Judge Harvey's ruling for her case. Anthony reports to Erin Siriani abandoned his rehabilitation requirement. Erin runs off. Anthony states she can't chase every drug user and chases after her. Eddie and Jamie are opening a joint account. Eddie is upset she won't be able to buy a secret gift for Jamie. She has $100k in another account. She says it's her father's money. Erin interviews a rehabilitation center manager who states Siriani ruined a young person's life who was trying to turn their life around. The rehabilitation center manager complains Siriani was always a problem. The rehabilitation center manager ends the interview by stating Siriani had a warrant for his arrest. Anthony calls Erin, reporting two perpetrators tried to rob a hospital and one of them was Siriani. Danny visits Captain Higgins. He wants to see the personnel logs, and Higgins' personal files. Higgins is offended and won't comply with Danny's order. Danny serves Captain Higgins a subpoena, meaning Captain Higgins must comply with Danny's orders. Eddie is upset Jamie is working this weekend. He says he needs extra money to pay off his student loans. He won't let Eddie help him with his student loans. Abigail reports a homeless person died in custody during a vagrancy sweep from a heart attack. Garrett states the fact the NYPD arrested the homeless person is a problem, even though they didn't do anything to cause his death. Frank states Garrett can't blame the Mayor. He believes they should state there are injuries on both sides. Sid is not at this meeting, because he is checking on the situation. Frank is positive Sid will have reports to have the police officers involved in the arrest viewed in a positive light. Danny and Jamie argue. Danny believes Jamie is too close to his investigation. Jamie mentions he's never stopped Danny from conducting his investigation. He wants to aid Danny in his investigation. Eddie visits Mr. Wallace who represented her father when he was prosecuted. Mr. Wallace gives Eddie a hug. She is surprised her father talked about her. Eddie wants to see his records, for her to discover if the trust he gave her is clean. Mr. Wallace suggests for her to not look at his records. Erin visits Judge Harvey. She believes Judge Harvey will know where Siriani went as they grew up together. Judge Harvey reveals to Erin her and Siriani are similar to siblings and insists Siriani won't hurt anyone. Judge Harvey doesn't believe Siriani he would possess a firearm. Erin yells at Judge Harvey to stop covering for Siriani. Judge Harvey states the hospital is where he became addicted to drugs, revealing he was a nurse at a few hospitals. Erin states to Judge Harvey she'll need a list of the hospitals and a warrant for his arrest. Danny is unable to believe Captain Higgins complied with the subpoena. Danny discovers no illegal activity by Captain Higgins. Although he discovers Wayne and Katrina seem to have doctored drug inventories. Another ambulance gets hit in the meantime. Jamie comes home and finds Eddie looking through her father's files. She states some of the investments were real. Jamie states he knows it must be hard for her because of her father's mistakes. Eddie states no one is perfect as the Reagan family. Jamie insists they don't need the money from her father's trust fund. Eddie is irritated. CCRB has called an emergency investigation. Meanwhile Sid is not available. Frank wonders what happened to Sid. He goes to talk to him. Sid has a commanding officer of a precinct in his office. The commanding officer of the precinct says the homeless person refused to be moved. Frank requests the meeting to be moved to his conference room. Siriani is arrested, however he insists he had no firearm. He insisted the plot to rob the hospital was the idea of Harris Hicks. He mentions to Erin, "she only tried to help me". Erin realizes Judge Harvey is in trouble. She and Anthony hear a scream and shots from a firearm when they arrive at the Judge's residence. They discover Judge Harvey shot Harris Hicks. Jamie and Danny take Katrina to the 29th Precinct and ask her about the doctored drug inventories. She insists she wants to move on from the situation at the Bitterman Housing Complex. Danny states to her they need to know who was responsible for the situation. She admits Wayne involved himself with criminals and orchestrated the robberies of several ambulances. She tried to get him to stop. After another EMT died from one of the robberies, Wayne wanted to stop cooperating with the criminals. Jamie tells Katrina to inform him how the ambulances are being targeted by the criminals. Jamie is impatient to leave and catch Eddie. Danny tells Jamie no matter what happened, he should apologize to Eddie. Captain Higgins appreciates the NYPD investigating the robberies on the ambulances. A call to a phony emergency comes through dispatch. Danny and Jamie apprehend the criminals responsible for the robberies. Frank meets the Mayor. Frank states Chase misread the homeless situation. He states Chase exploited a loophole and it solved nothing. Frank states the mass roundups of homeless people are against the community policing policies of the NYPD. He notes additional homeless people died during the vagrancy roundups. Frank has a resolution for the homeless problem. and he believes Mayor Chase may listen to his resolution. Jamie apologizes to Eddie. Eddie says she's the only one who may refer to her father as a crook. Jamie agrees to take the money from her father's trust fund, however he states he will give half of the money to one of her father's victims. Eddie wants to work on Saturdays. At dinner, Danny states he never had a joint account with Linda and that Jamie is being manipulated. Erin says joint finances are better for their marriage. Sean says everyone uses technology currently, cash is becoming nonexistent. Erin is the only one in the Reagan family who has a savings account. Frank mentions cash used to be the most effective way to obtain information from suspects in investigations. |
